Dane Lloyd has had the honour of serving the people of Sturgeon River-Parkland since being elected in October 2017. He was re-elected in October 2019 with over 53,000 votes – a record result. As an Infantry Officer in the Canadian Forces Primary Reserves, Dane is currently the only serving member of the Canadian Forces in Parliament.
In 2020 Dane was appointed as Critic for Digital Government and in 2021 he was assigned to the role of Shadow Minister for Rural Economic Development. Dane remains a committed champion for rural focused businesses, increasing investment for fast, reliable internet services, and ensuring that Government policy takes into account the experience of rural Canada.
Since his election, Dane has defended the rights of victims and their families. In 2019, he introduced C-437 known as McCanns’ Law, to ensure that convicted killers and their accomplices would not get early parole without revealing the location of their victims’ remains. Dane is an advocate for the rights of those with serious health conditions, such as Cystic Fibrosis and Spinal Muscular Atrophy (SMA). He has been instrumental in advocating for the Alberta Government to cover the expensive cost of drugs that can save children’s lives who have SMA.
Dane graduated from Trinity Western University with a degree in History. He and his wife Raechel, and daughter Brooke, are proud to call Stony Plain and Sturgeon River-Parkland their home. Dane’s family has farmed in Parkland County for generations and he looks forward to fighting for the interests of our communities in Ottawa for years to come.
